What Michigan Company Was Named #1 In The World For Gender Equality

General Motors was just given the number one ranking in the world for gender equality in the workplace according to the Global Report on Gender Equality released Thursday.
In that report they said that:
Women and girls do not receive the same life chances as men and boys, often excluded from education, unable to obtain the health care they need, and in many countries still denied political and legal rights. Gender discrimination remains one of the prime causes of economic marginalisation.
They went on to say that:
There has been an overall improvement in performance amongst companies ranked in Equileap’s Global Top 200 in 2018 compared to 2017
How do they determine their rating, the report stated:
Each company was put through Equileap’s research process in a series of stages, firstly a primary ranking was created using a limited number of criteria. The best one third of the companies from this step were then researched in depth by Equileap’s team, to compile the 2018 Equileap Top 200 ranking… Formed in 2016, Equileap is based in Amsterdam and London. Its second Global Report on Gender Equality looked at more than 3,000 companies in 23 countries and assessed them based on 19 criteria that included equal pay, work flexibility, gender equality in leadership, policies promoting gender equality and commitment, transparency and accountability, to list a few
After compiling all their data General Motors was determine to be #1.
Congratulations General Motors. As long as the employees are chosen by a fair criteria and not because of their gender then this is a positive for both women and the companies.
