Governor Snyder announced what schools could be closed due to poor performance.

Mlive.com reported that...

"Thirty-eight chronically failing Michigan schools are at risk of closure after being repeatedly ranked among the lowest performing schools statewide, Gov. Rick Snyder's administration announced."

Kalamazoo Public Schools...

  • Washington Writers' Academy
  • Woodward School For Technology and Research

Benton Harbor Area Schools...

  • Dream Academy
  • International Academy at Hull
  • STEAM Academy at MLK

Those school closures are not set in stone. There is always the possibility that a CEO could be appointed to take over the school, or additional resources (Michigan Department of Education or Intermediate School Districts) would be brought in to improve conditions.

The good news is, that the process includes making sure that all students involved in a school shutdown have a good school nearby to enroll in.
