Your Michigan House of Representative just passed a joint resolution on a unanimous vote.

It looks like both political parties can agree on something, at least here in Michigan.

The AP reported on this unanimously passed joint resolution which would prohibit any law enforcement in Michigan to search your electronic devices and view of your electronic data and communications without a search warrant.  The resolution would amend Michigan’s state constitution in order to add electronic data to the list of private property items needing warrants before being searched or collected.

Did you know that they could search through your devices without a search warrant?

The electronic devices would include your:

  • Cellphone
  • Computer
  • iPad
  • or other electronics

The joint resolution now moves to the Senate for debate and a possible vote.

You should be aware that the resolution must be approved by two-thirds votes in both the House and Senate before we the voters are allowed to vote on it in the next general election.

The more we are protected from these types of seizures the better we as citizens of Michigan are protected.

So I say get a warrant.
