12-Year-Old MI Boy Raises Money to Pay for Friend’s Headstone
A 12-year-old boy is reminding us the goodness of humanity.
Kaleb Klakulak, of Romeo, lost his best friend since 2nd grade, KJ Gross this past May. Sadly, KJ's mom, who has four other kids, couldn't afford a headstone. In the PayPal pool it states that Kaleb wanted to surprise KJ's mom for Christmas so he set up a $2,500 goal. According to the Detroit News, Kaleb was raising money by doing "odd jobs" like returning bottles & raking leaves, in addition to donations.
Obviously the story started to go viral and Kaleb was able to raise the money in honor of his best friend. Kaleb's mom posted the updated on PayPal.
WE WANT TO THANK YOU ALL from the very bottom OF OUR HEARTS!!! The funds have been provided for KJ's headstone! We thank each and every person who donated and shared this story.
She says that donations will still be accepted to help KJ's family as they approach their first Christmas without him. As of Sunday night, over 2K people made a financial contribution.
The Detroit News reports that KJ died of congestive heart failure, which he developed after battling leukemia his entire life.
Let us all strive to be a bit more like Kaleb.
