New Year's is an exciting time at the maternity ward. Two Southwest Michigan families welcomed babies just after midnight on January 1, 2019.

Joshua and Meghan Behymer were planning on a quiet night at their Kalamazoo home but Eleanor wanted to get out on New Year's. As Ryan Seacrest was counting down the ball in Times Square, the Behymer's knew it was time. Eleanor Lynn was born at 12:10 a.m., at Kalamazoo's Bronson Hospital, weighing 8 lbs, 5 oz. Quick timing but she was was 4 minutes late to be named the first Southwest Michigan baby of the new year.

Daylen Albert Wilson, was born at Bronson Battle Creek, coming in at 7 lbs., 10 oz., just 6 minutes into 2019. His father David considers his son’s New Year’s Day arrival as a sign of a positive beginning to the new year and his son’s life. Mother Mallorie is doing well.

You can see precious photos of the New Year's babies and their proud parents here.
