A 27 year old Battle Creek woman is now the 2nd person arraigned on charges connected to the Saturday night assault on Battle Creek Police Officer Jeff Johnson. Heather Arreondo is the girlfriend of the primary suspect, 33 year old Andre Yarborough. Arreondo is accused of physically intervening in Officer

Johnson’s attempt to subdue Yarborough outside a home along Cherry Street. At one point when Johnson was close to having Yarborough under control, Arreondo is accused of jumping on the officer and hitting him. Yarborough got away, pulled a gun, and shot Johnson. Officer Johnson is recovering from serious wounds and the recovery period may take some time. Yarborough was captured later in the day. He’s already been arraigned in the case.

Arreondo is charged with resisting and obstructing a police officer and harboring a fugitive. Her bond was set at $50-thousand cash. Her next court appearance is set for later in the month.
