What do you get when you combine a commitment to the fight against cancer and endless dedication? Joseph Warne.

Joseph Warne is a firefighter in Macomb Michigan and is participating in the Walk For Red 140. An annual even that's only in its second year, Walk For Red 140 looks to raise awareness and honor Michigan Firefighters who are battling cancer.

Mr. Warne is, at the time that I'm writing this, on his journey WALKING from Macomb to Grand Rapids. That's right. Walking. That's a journey of 140 miles. Not only is he walking, he's walking in full gear which, on average, the gear that these Firefighters wear equals about 40lbs at least according to Google. He left Macomb Township at 7:30am on 9/24 and is expected to arrive in the Grand Rapids area on Sunday 9/27. Which, when I consider the fact that I can barely do a 5k in less than an hour, this, to me, is mind blowing. What an incredible gesture of support.

Raising awareness and honoring those that are in their exhausting battle against cancer IS incredibly important. But, it also requires money. This year, Joseph set a goal of $10,000. Before his trip began he made this post on Facebook,

We are excited that in less than 24 hrs we get to assist the families of real superheros!!! We can’t express how much everyone of you have done in less than two weeks. Tonight we went over the $10,000 mark on Facebook. We barely hit $10,000 during the entire walk last year. Keep sharing and inviting. We have the best and most hard working people I know!!!
Walking alongside of Neighbors United, a group of volunteers who's goal is to make a difference in the lives of those that are down on their luck, Joseph is posting live videos on his journey. If you'd like to follow along you can do so here. And if you're out and about this weekend in between Macomb and Grand Rapids be on the lookout for Joseph Warne and cheer him on if you can.
