Quite often when we talk about the issues facing our country today we get caught up in the minutia of that issue.

What I try to do on my show is cut through that minutia and attempt to clearly define the issue and the consequences both positive and negative that come from them.  Many times we must take out the raw emotion surrounding that issue and make clear adult decisions on what is best for the country, not what is best for one group or another.

On the big issue these days, illegal aliens; I read a quote from Thomas Sowell, an American economist and social theorist who is currently Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University. Sowell was born in North Carolina, but grew up in Harlem, New York.

Thomas once said:

Immigration laws are the only laws that are discussed in terms of how to help people who break them.

Interesting when stated in those terms.  Why do people and a certain political ideology want to help people break the law.  If you ask yourself that and come up with an answer maybe that will clarify the issue and response to the issue of illegal immigration.
