The Calhoun County Major Crimes Task Force is handling the investigation into a weekend murder in Albion. Albion city police were called to the 1400 block of Cooper Street around 4AM Saturday and they found the victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victim is identified as 27 year old Amonte Bowser of Albion. He was taken to Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall where he was pronounced dead.

The Calhoun County Major Crimes Task Force is staffed by officers from law enforcement departments throughout Calhoun County. Albion police believe shooting was an isolated incident but are releasing no other information. No arrests have been made.

The Battle Creek Enquirer reports Bowser is a cousin of Joseph Bowser II, 23, of Battle Creek, who was shot and killed March 23, 2018, in Battle Creek. There have been no arrests in connection with that case.
