The Allegan County Animal Shelter is sending out an urgent plea to help get a dog in their shelter a forever home, or at least into a foster home.

Staff at the shelter describe Roland as a fun loving dog who is having a very difficult time with shelter life. His stress levels have gotten to the point that the medical team at the shelter have had to prescribe medication to help calm him but it is only a temporary fix. Roland needs to find his forever home or get into a foster immediately.

Roland has been at the shelter since the end of July, when he came in as a stray dog found near the shelter. Roland is estimated to be just over 5 years old and weighs approximately 65 pounds. He is described as a friendly dog and has gone to off site adoption events where he is well behaved. He likes most other dogs and has had several different play buddies since he came to the shelter, staff say. He likes kids too, but the Allegan Shelter recommends kids 12 and up due to his tendency to jump up looking for attention. It is also recommended he not be in a home with cats.
