If you own a newer GM or Chevy truck you might want to see if your vehicle is one of the more than 640,000 that are being recalled.

According to MLive, General Motors are recalling trucks because the newer seat belts can actually cause a fire in the vehicles carpeting. These high tech seat belts give off a hot gas that actually cause a tiny explosion when the seat belt tightens before a crash.

There is an opening in the bracket that when the explosion happens the fire can go through the opening and set the vehicles carpet on fire. Two fires have already been reported to General Motors but fortunately no injuries have occurred.

Here are the trucks that are on the recall list: 2019 and 2020 Chevrolet Silverado and GNC Sierra 1500 trucks. Also on the list are some of the 2020 Silverado and Sierra 2500 and 3500 heavy duty pick up trucks. All of these models have carpet in the floor almost all of them are located in North America.

So for there is no date set yet for the actual recall but once it is announced, dealerships will begin repairing the trucks absolutely for free. You may want to check with your dealership where you purchased for truck for more information.
