The Secretary of State of Michigan has been taking steps towards achieving the 30-minute guarantee for all Michigan residents. The last thing any of us want to do is go to the Secretary of State and sit there for 2 hours, especially if we have to go there on our birthday. Not too fun. Luckily, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson announced Thursday that the Michigan Department of State is expanding the appointment option to all branches across the state, according to WXYZ.

At the moment, The Department of State only offers appointments in 43 of their 88 branches, but the option will be expanded to the remaining branches starting mid-June. Benson elaborated on her feelings towards the new change:

No one in Michigan should wait more than 30 minutes to renew their license, register their vehicle or register to vote. With our statewide expansion of appointments, every Michigan resident will have the option to make an appointment at their local branch office and get in and out of a branch office in less than 30 minutes.
