An employee at the Athens Area Schools has now been placed on leave while an investigation is conducted into possible inappropriate conduct.

The district sent out a letter on Wednesday, with district Superintendent Joseph Huepenbecker saying that schools officials contacted law enforcement and child protective services after they learned of the possibility of inappropriate conduct by an employee. The employee was “promptly” put on leave.

They say that “student safety and well-being remain our top priority”, and that any further information regarding who the staff member is or what they allegedly did will not be released until the investigation is conducted.
