Suspect Named In July Bank Robbery In Battle Creek
Authorities have named a suspect in connection to a bank robbery in Battle Creek last month. The Battle Creek Enquirer reports that an arrest warrant has been issued for 32-year-old Daniel R. Lee of Kalamazoo. The Kalamazoo County Sheriff Department says Lee is a parole absconder and is also suspected for a robbery that happened at a bank in Kalamazoo County’s Oshtemo Township.
The Battle Creek robbery happened on July 27th at the Comerica Bank on Columbia Avenue. Lee allegedly entered the bank wearing a burgundy wind breaker, blue jeans, yellow or tan shoes and with a black and white bandana covering his face. He was said to be armed with a semi-automatic handgun and left with an undisclosed amount of cash driving a white four-door sedan.
Authorities were able to identify Lee as a suspect in both robberies using video surveillance and tips from the public. Detectives in Kalamazoo and Calhoun County have been working on the case with the FBI. Lee was classified as a parole absconder on July 5th after serving a seven to 20 year sentence following a plea for a bank robbery in Kalamazoo back in 2007.
