Battle Creek Man Facing Murder Charge After Shooting Victim Dies
A man accused of assault in a shooting that occurred a week and a half ago in Battle Creek is now looking at murder charges, now that his alleged victim has died.
WWMT reports that 26-year-old James Hatfield was charged with open murder Tuesday in the death of 48-year-old Kelvin Pratcher.
Investigators say that Pratcher was shot in the abdomen late the night of October 15, in the 200 block of Cherry St. Hatfield was arrested a few blocks away by Battle Creek Police Officers, shortly after the incident. A firearm was recovered at the scene.
Pratcher died Monday at Bronson Kalamazoo from his injuries.
