Battle Creek Man Nabbed, Person of Interest in Murder Case (VIDEO)
A 48-year-old Battle Creek man was arrested Monday afternoon as a person of interest following the death of a 43-year-old man found in the trunk of a car.
Battle Creek Police responded to Tigers Towing on South Kendall around 9:30am Monday morning after the owner of the vehicle discovered the man in the trunk. Investigators identified the victim as Diabulo White of Battle Creek, who was reported missing by family members Saturday. His last known appearance before he was found was at his home Friday night.
The vehicle was towed Saturday after a private property owner found the vehicle on Helen Montgomery Avenue. Authorities at the time didn’t know of the body, as the four-door sedan was completely locked. A Silent Observer tip led officers to a home on Somerset this afternoon, where the man fled his home of foot. He was later apprehended on unrelated warrants.
The owner of the vehicle has been cooperative with authorities and is no way a part of the case. Investigators believe that an acquaintance to all parties involved is being sought for questioning. The BCPD has also recovered evidence from the Somerset area and the man's home.
Investigators are still retrieving tips and evidence. Call the Battle Creek Police or Silent Observer if you have information on the case.
