The Western Michigan Bronco hockey team came out Friday night looking like they  understood they can't afford to lose any possible points as the final weeks of the 2019-2020 season play out.

The Broncos opened up at 3-0 lead against Colorado College Friday night and held on to win 5-2. And to underscore that it was a team effort, five different Bronco scored goals and Freshman goalie Brandon Bussi was back in net, and held CC to a pair of goals.

Junior forward Ethan Frank slammed in a rebound to open the scoring in the first period. Wade Allison scored later in the first to make it 2-0. Hugh McGing scored early in the 2nd period to take the lead to 3-0, but the old hockey saying about 3-0 being the most dangerous lead almost came true and two breakaway goals by Tiger captain Chris Wilkie made score 3-2.

Finally, Bronco senior leadership settled the team and game as Lawton Courtnall scored to make it 4-2 and Rhett Kingston tallied a 5th goal.

The Broncos remain in fourth place in the NCHC, and one game under .500 at 4-5-2-2.

The same two teams play again Saturday night at Lawson Ice Arena.
