Five of the seven Kalamazoo area schools will vie for spots in the Michigan High School Athletic Association's State Semifinals in football. The other two play for spots in the State Finals next weekend.

The five in action this week are in the 11-Man ranks while the other two play State Semifinals in 8-Man football. At a quick glance, this week's area squads include a defending state champion, one hosting a state champion, another hosting a state runner-up, one battling an annual powerhouse, and two potential state finalists facing 8-Man powers.
