Changing the Face of Downtown Kalamazoo. See a One-Year Time-Lapse Video of The Exchange Building Going Up
You've seen the slow progress over the last 16 months, now watch the Exchange Building go up in less than 5 minutes.
The Kent Companies have released a time lapse from September 2017 through December 2018 of the team's work on downtown Kalamazoo's newest landmark, a 15-story mixed-use building named The Exchange. Click the player above to take a look.
It begins with just the pillars in place at Michigan Ave. and Rose St. as the crane madly spins in circles, adding small parts to the structure. Then, the cranes multiply as more materials are dropped off and the first story begins to materialize. The second deck is added and a third as the snow begins to fly. As Spring 2018 comes, the work continues on the soon-to-be 15 story multi-use structure. Soon, the entire screen is filled with the builders progress so far. Here's what it will look like when it is finished in Spring 2019:
The Exchange Building will house commercial and retail lease areas on the first, second and seventh floors. Levels three through six will provide secure automobile parking for occupants and residents. Floors eight through fourteen will be residential units with a mix of one-bedroom, two-bedroom and studio apartments with views overlooking the city.
