Cobo Center In Detroit To Have Name Changed On Tuesday
Cobo Center is getting a new name. Tuesday the center in Downtown Detroit will no longer be known as Cobo Center.
According to WXYZ in Detroit, Cobo Center's new name will be announced at a press conference at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
In February it was announced that Chemical Bank was awarded naming rights after a deal for 22 years. Chemical Bank and TCF Bank merged earlier this year.
Along with a press conference to announce the new name, there will be a block party to celebrate the new name. The party will feature food, family activities along with entertainment.
The name has been reported as the TCF Center.
The convention center is the annual host of the North American International Auto Show which is scheduled for June of 2020. It also hosts many other events through out the year.
The center opened in 1960 and has seen renovations completed in 1989 and 2015.
