Crash On I-94 In Calhoun County Leaves Semi Driver Dead Thursday
I-94 in Calhoun County was shut down completely for several hours overnight in a crash that left a semi-truck driver dead.
The accident took place around 1am Thursday at 11 Mile Rd. on the westbound highway in Emmett Township, where two tractor trailers collided; WOODTV says that the Michigan State Police confirmed one of the trucks rear ended the other, causing a fire. One of the semi drivers was killed in the accident, while the other was unhurt.
Emmett Township Department of Public Safety shared a photo of the wreckage to their Twitter around 2am Thursday. They recommended drivers avoid the area entirely if they could.
Right now the cause of the accident is unknown, and the scene remains under investigation.
The westbound lanes of I-94 before 11 Mile Rd. remained completely closed as of 6am Thursday.
