Detroit Lions Cornerback Announces Retirement
Most of the talk this off season for the Detroit Lions has been on the possible retirement of Calvin Johnson. According to M-Live, another Lions player cornerback Rashean Mathis announced his retirement after 13 seasons.
Mathis spent the majority of his career in Jacksonville with the Jaguars. He was a steady pro bowl cornerback, who ended up leaving in 2013.
He signed with the Lions and became their best corner. Having a career revival in Detroit, when most players his age retire. He not only showed it by his play on the field, but also had a veteran presence in the locker room.
Mathis is coming off a concussion during the second half of this past season. He was also the second oldest corner in the league.
