Well the steamroller of trashing Christopher Columbus that has been happening around the country has now parked in Detroit and is waiting for the go ahead to steam roll over the Christopher Columbus bust in downtown Detroit.

The Detroit News is reporting on a Detroit City Councilwoman Raquel Castaneda-Lopez who wants to ditch Columbus Day in favor for Indigenous People Day in Detroit.

Funny how the people who fight for indigenous people appear to have no idea what the word indigenous means.  According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary the definition of indigenous is:

produced, growing, living, or occurring naturally in a particular region or environment

The supporters of “Indigenous People Day” believe the word means that the American Indian was here originally, it does not mean that.

You see like the European immigrants that so many on the left hate the American Indians were actually immigrants.

According to the National Geographic website:

Traditionally, Native Americans are believed to have descended from northeast Asia, arriving over a land bridge between Siberia and Alaska some 12,000 years ago and then migrating across North and South America.  But recent research, including the Baja California study, indicates that the initial settlement of the continent was instead driven by Southeast Asians who occupied Australia 60,000 years ago and then expanded into the Americas about 13,500 years ago, prior to Mongoloid people arriving from northeast Asia.

Now what are the supporters of “Indigenous People Day” going to say or do?  Do not worry about them they will just not report that little fact and move on like their revisionist history always allows them to do.

This is not to say that they can no longer support “Indigenous People Day”, this is American and as long as your position is not supported only by the right you can do and say whatever you want with little to no blow back.

I am just attempting to educate the masses that seem to have no idea what they are talking about.

By the way at what point in the future will the “Indigenous People Day” statues be torn down when people find out that the American Indian tribes tortured and enslaved people and god forbid scalped them.  The scalping part will be excused as bad haircuts.

Go Indians!

By the way since Christopher Columbus did not actually discover North America should we be celebrating him at all?  He did explore the Central and South American coasts.

Should we not be supporting a Ponce de Leon day here in North America?
