Event To Coincide With Michigan’s Missing Persons Day

On Saturday, May 4th, the Michigan State Police (MSP) will host a free event that seeks to resolve missing persons cases. The event begins at 1:00 p.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m. at Madonna University-Franciscan Center located at 36600 Schoolcraft Road Livonia, MI 48150. A private family only session begins at 9:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Those with missing family members that wish ensure a loved one is commemorated or to participate in the family round-table discussion, must register by emailing MSP-MissingPersons@michigan.gov . Lunch will be provided to those attending that portion of the event.

Members of the media will be on hand for the later portion that begins at 1:00 p.m. The event is family-friendly and meant to provide support to families of missing persons and provide an opportunity for law enforcement officials to update their databases with new information. Family members are encouraged to bring photographs, dental and medical records, or other identifying information to update law enforcement databases. Personal items will be immediately returned.

There are almost 4,000 persons actively reported as missing in Michigan and over 300 unsolved unidentified remains cases.
