Experience Parchment At The 37th Annual Kindleberger Summer Fest
Some of the best musical theater productions to see in southwest Michigan will once again take place outdoors on The Stage at Kindleberger Park in Parchment. The 37th annual Kindleberger Summer Festival of the Performing Arts happens Wednesday, July 11th through Sunday, July 15th, with the main festival day on Saturday. It's held every year in the Kalamazoo suburb to showcase the superb theater talent in the region.
This year's productions include youth performances of The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland and adult performances of Little Shop of Horrors (PG-13). The youth show will begin at 5:30pm and the adult show at 7:00pm Wednesday through Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, the shows will take place at 3:30pm and 5:00pm respectively. All shows are free to the public. For seating, bring lawn chairs or blankets.
Along with the theatrical productions, the main festival day Saturday will have numerous family activities beginning with a 5K Race/Fitness Walk and a 1/2K Kids Fun Run (11 & under) that starts 8:00am at the Parchment United Methodist Church on Glendale Blvd. A parade will follow at 10:00am through downtown Parchment along "G" Ave and Riverview Drive.
The Arts & Crafts Show will happen at the lower end of the park from 9am to 3pm with dozens of booths from artisans and craftspeople locally and from around Michigan. The Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show happens from 10am to 2pm at a new location this year at Commerce Lane on the southern end of Parchment along the Kalamazoo River near Mosel Ave.
