Delta Airlines has chosen Western Michigan University to be one it's select partners to train AMT's, (Airline Maintenance Technicians) Delta expects a high demand for these specialists in the coming years.

"This is a terrific new acknowledgement by Delta of the strength of our programs," says Capt. Dave Powell, dean of WMU's College of Aviation. "Over the years, we've enjoyed some significant partnerships with the company, and we were very pleased to have its representatives come, assess our aviation maintenance technology program and tell us we meet or exceed the high standards the company has set for itself."

A benefit to Western is having access to Delta's resources to be able to improve the AMT program. Having Delta's name associated with WMU also will help market the program to potential students.

Something outsiders might not know is the School of Aviation has approximately 900 students enrolled. The school offers three degrees programs.
