The XFL is starting up again and there are many players on rosters from  Michigan schools.  The league also features a coach who played for the Lions in the late 1980's

According to the XFL,  one time Lions quarterback, Chuck Long  is the Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks coach for the St. Louis Battlehawks.

Chuck Long played his college career in Iowa and was drafted by the Lions in 1986.  He moved on to coach in college with Iowa, Oklahoma and Kansas.  He was a head coach at San Diego State from 2006-2008.

Long will call the plays for Battlehawks coach and general manager, Jonathan Hayes.  Hayes recently was the Tight Ends coach with the Bengals.

Michigan does not have a team and if you are looking for one to follow St. Louis is the closest to Michigan.

The season is set to begin in the XFL on Saturday, February 8th.  You can watch the Battlehawks in their first game against the Dallas Renegades on Sunday, Feburary 9th at 5 p.m. on ESPN.
