Going Forward Regarding The Detroit Pistons

Now that the Detroit Pistons have completed another losing season (just stating facts, folks) at 23-59. It's time to take a look at the squad as they enter an important offseason.

Why is it important? Because if the Pistons want people in outstate Michigan to actually care about them, they have to get really good. Like, starting next season.

Remember, the Pistons haven't won a playoff game since Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals in 2008 (lost to the eventual NBA Champion Boston Celtics in six games). And they've only made the playoffs three times since then, and they were swept by Cleveland twice and by Milwaukee once.

Yes, they've had injuries and COVID-19 issues. But that's not an excuse anymore. So has everyone else in the league. And the same problems persist. Bad defense or lack of defense at all and the inability to finish games in the fourth quarter.

It's also important for general manager Troy Weaver and head coach Dwane Casey (pictured). Both have two years left on their contracts. So there is urgency to improve quickly. Otherwise, one or both may be fired a year from now.

They'll have a draft pick very high in the first round, depending on how the Draft Lottery shakes out next month. They also have a second round pick from Brooklyn, from a trade they made during the season.
