Grand Rapids Griffins’ Division In AHL Is Adding New Teams
The Grand Rapids Griffins, who are the AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings will soon have some new rivals as their division is set to expand.
According to the story from M-Live, the AHL Central Division will see two new teams added and one team moved to the North Division.
The new teams will be Texas and San Antonio. Both of these are moving from the Pacific Division. The Cleveland Monsters who have been featured in the Central Division will move to the North Division.
The moves announced by the league were due to the Colorado Eagles arrival into the league. The changes will take place for the next season.
The Grand Rapids Griffins recently finished their season losing to the Manitoba Moose in the playoffs in 5 games.
This is a year after the team won the Calder Trophy. They previously won the trophy in the 2012-2013 season.
