Has the Democrat Party Been Hijacked?
The May Day celebrations were supposed to be a day meant to celebrate workers and the gains made by labor advocates. Is that what went on yesterday?
The answer is very simply NO.
Police departments in Paris, Istanbul, Portland, New York, Seattle Washington and many more around the country and world were on high alert due to the violence and aggression that have surrounded the left’s celebration and protest for years now.
At many of these “celebrations” objects such as rocks, bottles, ball bearings, fireworks, smoke bombs, road flares, and Molotov cocktails were thrown at innocent people, businesses and the police themselves. Police departments from around the country and world reported that the “celebrations” turned into a full-scale riot with random acts of vandalism.
In some cases various fires were set in the street and in garbage cans, a police car was spray-painted and vandalized, and there were attempts to set at least one business on fire.
Is this what the party of the “working people” supposed to be? The answer is very simply no. The Democrat Party has been completely hijacked by the far left and those far left people are taking this once party of the working people down a dark path. A path of identity politics that is meant to divide us, not unite us.
What happened to the Democrat Party? Why have their political and activist leaders allowed this hijacking to take place?
Many on the right have stated that with all his moral troubles even Bill Clinton was a pragmatic governor as well as a pragmatic president. President Bill Clinton in the end was about getting things accomplished and some of those accomplishments were to help the American people in a way he believed would help them. He knew he had to move the ball forward and in knowing that he was willing to work with Republicans.
That type of willingness to compromise and work with the Republicans has long gone past. In fact I believe he may be the last Democrat in a leadership position on the Federal level to attempt to compromise and work with the Republican Party, the key word being compromise.
As I have stated many times President Kennedy’s Democrat Party believed in capitalism. In fact in an article written last year by longtime Democrat’s Pat Caddell and Douglas Schoen and published by Fox News, they wrote that President Kennedy believed in:
tax cuts to generate economic growth; a vigorous military that could be used to oppose Communist expansionism; and a patriotism in which the United States proudly thumped its chest about our accomplishments, victories and generosity
Pat Caddell and Douglas Schoen went on to write that things have indeed radically changed from President Kennedy’s Democrat party to today’s Democrat Party and they believe it would be unrecognizable to JFK.
In their opinion piece they asked the reader to consider the following questions:
- Would Kennedy possibly believe that more Iowa Democrats in 2016 identify with “socialism” than with “capitalism?”
- Would he have ever believed that 43 percent of Iowa’s Democratic caucus-goers self-identified as “Socialist?”
- What would JFK have thought of a Democratic president of the United States who never misses an opportunity to apologize for American behavior?
- What would Kennedy have thought of that same twice-elected president of the United States embracing the very same Cuban regime that he, JFK, tried to over-throw in 1961?
- And what would he think about his party nominating someone whom 57 percent of American voters believe should be indicted for her handling of classified information?
The question is what happened? And why did the party move so far from its original base and mission?
I know that there are many, in fact probably a majority of everyday Democrats who do not like the path the Democrat Party has taken and do not believe in the direction or policies they now promote.
The question is what are they going to do about it? Many decided in the last race to leave the party, possibly only temporarily, and voted for President Trump. This should be a troubling sign to the parties’ leadership but it does not seem to be so.
I believe that many Democrats should now take a long hard look at what has happened to their party and either attempt to change it back to its’ roots or join the Republican Party and their attempts to work on the behave of the “working people” as well as national security and more.
