It's one of my favorite places to visit in Michigan and maybe yours, too. While this news doesn't directly affect the Henry Ford Museum, its name is officially changing. The new name is The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation.

In a Detroit News story, the Museum's leader, Patricia Mooradian, says the name change is prompted by people from outside Michigan, (possibly from Ohio) not understanding what the museum is all about. The museum draws 35% of it's visitors from outside Michigan.

This is the second name change for the museum. In 2003, all the parts of the Dearborn location (the museum itself, Greenfield Village and the Ford plant) were put under the Henry Ford name.

There is also a promotional tie-in with the name change, as CBS runs a Saturday morning show, Innovation Nation, seen locally on WWMT, that carries The Henry Ford label.
