As part of a revitalization effort, a downtown Battle Creek landmark has a new name.

The City of Battle Creek has been supporting efforts by MDH Development to renovate the Heritage Tower at 25 W. Michigan Ave, and turn the tower into a modern space for apartments and retailers. The building had been vacant since 2008, before renovations started a couple of years ago. However, when tenants move in to their units they may not be actually moving into The Heritage Tower.

In a press release, Mark Harmsen from MDH Development says that the location at 25 W Michigan Ave. has been renamed as “The Milton”; this is a reference to the Village of Milton, which was founded in 1833 and eventually morphed into the Village and then City of Battle Creek. The release says that The Miltion will be "the catalyst" of the "bright future" downtown Battle Creek has.

The Milton will contain 85 residential apartments, and 32,000 square feet of retail and office space.
