Hobby Lobby Ignores Stay Home Orders In Ohio, Indiana and Wisconsin
This arts and crafts store say they are essential and have reopened nearly 40 stores in the Midwest.
In a very strange act of defiance, Hobby Lobby reopened many of their stores in Ohio and Wisconsin according to the Business Insider,
The reopenings include stores in Ohio and Wisconsin — which both enacted strict shelter-in-place orders on March 24 — where nearly all Hobby Lobby locations have been reopened after shuttering for only one week. During calls Business Insider made to each location, employees confirmed that all 19 Hobby Lobby locations in Ohio were open as of Monday afternoon, as were 17 out of 20 stores in Wisconsin that were still listed as "temporarily closed" on Google.
Police have been forcibly shut down a couple of those stores in Wisconsin. In fact, police shut down a Hobby Lobby one hour after they opened in Jeffersonville, Indiana on Monday.
Everyone understands the need to keep a business open in order to make money and pay employees. However, the longer people ignore the 'Stay Home, Stay Safe' executive orders the longer it will take for each state to get back to normal.
There are currently no reports of any Hobby Lobby locations in the state of Michigan ignoring the order.
