The Western Michigan hockey team completed a weekend sweep of Ferris State, with a 8-2 win in Big Rapids Saturday night. That big win was on the heels of 4-2 victory Friday night at Lawson Ice Arena in Kalamazoo.

The Broncos are now 5-3-2 overall, after the two non-conference wins. The team is second in the NCHC conference after North Dakota swept it's first series in conference play this weekend, over Miami.

Saturday night's victory was highlighted by a hat trick from Rhett Kingston and two goals from Lawton Courtnall.

In the Friday night victory in Kalamazoo, four different Broncos scored. Hugh McGing, Paul Washe, Ronnie Attard and Austin Rueschhoff with the goals.

Brandon Bussi picked up both wins this weekend, in goal.

Western will host Omaha this coming weekend, as the Mavericks open conference play. They have started the season 5-2-1.

The Bronco schedule doesn't get any easier. The next two opponents after Omaha are Denver and North Dakota.
