Holt’s Historic Gunn School Open To The Public This Weekend

Once the college football games are done on Saturday and you've finished up your yard work, if you're looking for something unique to do this weekend you can head to Holt to check out the historic Gunn School. The one room school is located at the corner of Holt Road and Washington and it will be open to the public this Sunday, September 8th from 2 pm until 5 pm. According to the Gun School/Weebly website, a log school was originally built at that location back in 1867. The brick school that now stands at that intersection was built back in 1886. However, it closed its doors as an active school in 1957.

The Holt-Delhi Historical Society hosts several open houses at the historic school throughout the year and this Sunday will be the last open house during 2019. You can find out more about Gunn School by clicking here. They also have a Facebook page, check it out here.
