Home Improvement Michigan’s Favorite 90’s Sitcom; What Was Yours?
The Dish Network, probably looking for some publicity and here I am giving it to them, performed an analysis to determine what was the favorite 90’s sitcom of each state.
The methodology as stated by Dish was:
We found the top 15 sitcoms from the 1990s according to Ranker.com, then analyzed Google search volume from 2004 to the present to find out what show each state is searching for.
Apparently Michigan’s choice for favorite 90’s sitcom was Home Improvement. The main character in that sitcom was Tim Allen a native of Birmingham Michigan. Home Improvement also was the favorite of the states of Ohio and Wisconsin.
The 90’s sitcom that was the favorite of most states was “Friends”, which topped the list with 12 states.
The Dish Network “study” found the following:
Friends won out as the favorite in twelve states—the most of any ’90s sitcom. Could this show BE any more popular?
Though Will Smith’s character in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is “West Philadelphia, born and raised,” Pennsylvania’s favorite ’90s sitcom is actually Full House. How rude!
On the other hand, the Wisconsin setting is a big part of That ’70s Show, which may be why it’s the Badger State’s fave.
Rebooted shows are shown some love. Out of the fifteen shows represented, four—Boy Meets World,Full House, Roseanne, and Sabrina, The Teenage Witch—have been revived.
Or maybe make that five? Frasier star Kelsey Grammer is entertaining “six different ideas” for continuing the show.
Only one of these shows is still in its original run. The Simpsons, favorite of California, Oregon, and Virginia, is still making new episodes and, after airing its 636th episode in 2018, became the longest-running primetime scripted series in TV history. That’s a lot of opening credits gags.
By the way for you “Seinfeld” fans, it was not a choice since it actually started in 1989.
Let’s have some fun, what was your favorite sitcom of the 90’s and any decade growing up.
