It's time to have some fun. 2020 has been a disaster that most everyone will want to forget. But you know, it's October and we need to have some fun.

And the Western Michigan Bronco Alumni Association is giving you a chance to do just that; a cruise through campus on Saturday, October 10th.

So Bronco alumni, get the Brown and Gold swag out and get it on your car. There's prizes for all this, and if you feel safer to do a virtual version, that's cool, too.

Keep in mind, you have to sign up. But here's the plan for October 10: The Car Parade will drive past a group of Bronco Celebrity Judges and then around Ring Road through several "Spirit Zones".

If this sounds like a welcome break from, well, everything. here's how to get in on it. You have to register by Wednesday, October 7th. Every car entered gets a Bronco-themed Swag-Bag. Now, the Alumni Association says final parade details are going to be emailed to everyone who registers. during this coming week (of the parade).

Here are the judging categories (from the Alumni Association):

  • President’s Choice - Chosen by President and Mrs. Montgomery
  • Entertainment Value - Provides unique use of props, gimmicks, or comedy to entertain participants and judges
  • Best Bronco - Spirit award for most ‘Bronco-fied’ vehicle, incorporating brown and gold, academic-related, athletic-related, or other WMU themed elements
  • Vintage - Best decorated vintage vehicle
  • Best Spirit Zone Award - Awarded by the WMU Alumni Association Board of Directors to the most spirited zone along the route.
  • Best Virtual Entry - For anyone who can’t make it to campus for the car parade, it’s your chance to get creative at home. Snap a photo and post it to one of the WMU Alumni Association accounts on social media. Be sure to include the hashtag #WMUVirtualCarParade so we can easily find your submission. We will be scanning Twitter, Instagram and Facebook starting on Oct. 9, so share your photo before 1:30pm EST on Oct. 10. May the best car win!

We didn't get to DooDah this year, and there's no holiday parade, but for at least, Bronco alums, here's a chance to have some fun.
