If you zip through the EZ Pass lanes on the Indiana Toll road, get ready for a "sticker shock," in the words of one state lawmaker. Toll rates are skyrocketing up 126%.

The rate increase goes into effect on Thursday June 1, 2017.

Here's the bottom line - the rate increase is for those who use an EZ Pass. Those drivers will be paying the same amount as those drivers who pay cash.

Currently an EZ Pass user has been paying just $4.65 to drive the entire length of the road while those who pay cash pay $10.52.

Essentially, the commuter in question will get hit with more than a decades’ worth of rate hikes in one fell swoop.

All users of the Toll Road will see an increase up to $10.75 to drive the full route on July 1, 2017.
