Is ‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer’ A Movie About Bullying?
Well, it is that time of the year again when all of our great and not so great Christmas TV specials are played during prime time. When I was I child, I loved this time of year and could not wait to watch Frosty the Snowman, Santa Claus is Coming to Town and The Year Without A Santa Claus; I loved the heat and cold miser song.
The movies seemed more special when we were younger because we did not have 24 hour cartoon channels or the ability to watch these shows anytime of the year. I saw it in my own children, they never thought these movies were as special as I did.
One of my favorite Christmas movies was Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, which played Monday night at 8 pm. Who would have ever thought of it as a horrible movie that taught us children to be mean and bullies? Only today, with these people who see bullies, racist, homophobes and whatever else everywhere. Along with any other word that ends in “ic” or “ism” would think that of the movie, and they do.
A site called popculture.com has found the following comments by viewers of our Christmas favorites and specifically Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. Enjoy their absurdity when they wrote:
As an adult, Rudolph is the saddest thing ever with the bullying and shaming and mean Santa. Probably not as bad as Nestor the Long Eared Christmas Donkey! Where his mom like, freezes to death or something? And these are children’s shows. No wonder we’re all messed up! — Phyllis December 3, 2019

Really? That is what you saw and got out of this movie when you watched it? Perhaps it was the parents who saw those things in the movie who then went on to teach their children to be mean and bullies.
Are these people upset that Frosty the Snowman is actually white and not a person of color, or why is he a snowman and not a snowwoman or part of the LGBTQ community? I am sure that is all coming are way if they have not already commented on dear old Frosty.
Just sit back, make some popcorn and enjoy the movie and movies for what they are.
