If you bought every combination of numbers, is it worth it?

CNN Money did the math (and double-checked it) on buying every existing combination of numbers to guarantee a winning Powerball ticket.

Firstly, it would cost $584 million to buy every possible combination of numbers to guarantee you would have the winning ticket.

Then, since you couldn't rely on quick-picks and every transaction has to be done in person, you would need an army of people to purchase 292 million different tickets.

The lump-sum payment of approximately $868 million makes this look like a profit of $284 million...UNLESS...someone else hits the jackpot and you have to split it.

That means a $100 million loss.

So, stick with your lucky numbers and good luck!
