Several cats have been reportedly found mutilated around Allegan.  What's going on?

News Channel 3 was able to confirm one of the many stories of "cat parts" being found around Allegan,

Melissa Gilbert, manager of the Shell gas station in Allegan, said on Friday Jan. 10, 2020, just before the doors of the gas station were opened that a frequent customer asked if he could go through dumpster to collect cans and bottles, but he ended up finding more than he bargained.  “He ended up finding a cat in one of the bags,” Gilbert said.

Unfortunately, there were no security cameras around to catch the person dropping the cat in the gas station dumpster.  Allegan police say they have no reports of any similar incidents.  Gilbert told News Channel 3 that it's because the officer didn't take a report.

Anyone that doesn't take this incident seriously may end up regretting it.  It's widely known that people that abuse, especially mutilate animals tend to escalate to very violent behavior with humans.  This should concern you whether you are an animal lover or not.

I encourage you to watch the Netflix docu-series "Don't F**k With Cats: Hunting an Internet Killer.

It's a very entertaining / disturbing documentary that tells the story of a young man that starts killing cats on the internet and ends with him mutilating people.

If you have any information on who may be responsible for these crimes in Allegan, please reach out to the Allegan Police Department (269) 673-2115.

News Channel 3 ended their story reminding us that this is a felony charge,

Killing or torturing an animal is a felony charge and convicted offender could face up to 10 years in prison, a $5,000 fine and up to 500 hours of community service.
