Are you obsessed with Serial? Can't miss an episode of My Favorite Murder? Join the Kalamazoo True Crime Book Club and fuel your fascination.

America is fixated on the true crime genre. Detective shows, cop shows, doctor shows and forensic detective shows have made fictional hit television series for decades now and podcasting has been overrun with copycats since the breakout hit Serial made the true crime genre. Call it a fetish for the fiendish.

Kalamazoo Public Library has seen the evidence and started the True Crime Book Club. Readers meet quarterly to discuss each book, with the current selection listed as The Face of a Body: A Murder and a Memoir. Author Alexandria Marzano-Lesnevich will join via Skype to talk about the work. Here's the Amazon synopsis:

An intellectual and emotional thriller that is also a different kind of murder mystery, THE FACT OF A BODY is a book not only about how the story of one crime was constructed -- but about how we grapple with our own personal histories. Along the way it tackles questions about the nature of forgiveness, and if a single narrative can ever really contain something as definitive as the truth. This groundbreaking, heart-stopping work, ten years in the making, shows how the law is more personal than we would like to believe -- and the truth more complicated, and powerful, than we could ever imagine.
