Way before there were cars, trains, and airplanes there was another way for people to travel, the bicycle. The bicycle has been used for recreational fun, physical activity, and for necessary travel around town. There are people who spend hours riding their bikes or even taking their bikes onto scenic trails to get the best views and experience nature while riding. The bicycle will always be special to humans and there will always be a reason to celebrate its existence.

Riding a bike is one of the few skills that we don't really forget how to do. There's this saying that you never forget how to ride a bike, it may take you a little minute to get your groove and balance back, but you'll always know how to push the pedals. Eventually somebody had the idea to have people race on bicycles and that created cycling as a professional sport which means the love for bikes will never die.

Michigan is a very bike friendly state as there are tons of cities that make sure they have bike lane access, and some have even incorporated bike traffic signals to make it easier for them as well. Kalamazoo is one of those cities that has made sure to create space for the bikers in their town and they also love to celebrate them with an entire week known as bike week.

Kalamazoo Hosting Bikes In The Zoo To Kick Off Bike Week

The Kalamazoo Bike Week is held annually from the Saturday before Mother's Day to the following Saturday. This year, Kalamazoo's Bike Week will fall on May 10th to May 17th. The City of Kalamazoo is opening the week with an event in Downtown Kalamazoo that's jam-packed with excitement.

The Bikes in The Zoo event will be from Noon to 4pm on Saturday May 10th on the Kalamazoo Mall to kick off the spectacle that is Kalamazoo Bike Week. There will be live music, vintage bikes, e-bikes, a bike-powered blender for smoothies, and more. The Bike Bus will be starting at 10 a.m. at CenterPoint City Church on Cork Street or at the Oakwood Plaza.

The Bike Bus is an opportunity for people to ride along with a large group of riders whenever they are biking. They will be riding around the city looking to pick up bikers on their way to Bikes in The Zoo. There will be several different events all week long to celebrate Kalamazoo's Bike Week which is held during the national bike month, May.
