As we have all seen, Ohio has not been spared in the retail apocalypse that has been affecting our country on a grand scale over the last couple of years. Ohio has seen chain retail stores, restaurants, pharmacies, and other businesses close their doors due to several reasons. For some people, it's not a big deal because they have made a switch to online shopping and have most things delivered to their homes but this is still a big issue.

The closure bug has bitten another big-name retailer and has announced that they will be closing several stores over the next year as they have already closed a decent number within the last 12 months. Covid-19, inflation, and overall supply and demand have continued to attack our economy and retail services across the country. Ohio, yet again, could be affected by another closure in the year 2024 after already losing some big-time store locations.

Ohio has seen Bed, Bath, and Beyond, Dollar Tree, Rite Aid, and other retailers pull business out of many cities across the state this year, and yet another threatens to strike before the year ends. Those in Ohio who are looking for a new phone, PC, laptop, TV, gaming console, or other electronics may have to order online and wait or make quite the trip to find their new appliance as one of the largest electronic retailers may be closing up shop.

Best Buy has announced that they will be closing somewhere between 10 and 15 store locations in 2024 after already closing 24 over the last year. The scary yet relieving part of all of this is that they haven't announced which locations they will be closing yet. This means that this could wipe out many of the Best Buy stores across Ohio or the Buckeye state and could be completely sparred from the pain of losing their go-to store for electronics.

Ohio currently has 38 Best Buy stores operating within the state lines in the following locations:

  • Akron (1)
  • Avon (1)
  • Boardman (1)
  • Cincinnati (4)
  • Cleveland (1)
  • Columbus (2)
  • Cuyahoga Falls (1)

Your Best Buy may not close but this is just something to keep an eye on as the year progresses.
