This time of year, can be exciting for a lot of people but can also be stressful and discouraging for others. Many of us have family and friends to get together with, eat with, and enjoy the holiday spirit while some people have lost their family and loved ones or simply aren't accepted.

There are a lot of reasons as to why someone can be dealing with tough times, but that toughness is heightened during the holidays as this time is hyper focused on connections and relationships with family and friends. One thing I can say, is that our state and country have gotten better at using this season to give back.

There are a number of warm clothing drives, holiday gift drives, and of course food drives that happen throughout the year in preparation of this season. Every community has different ideas for their drives to garner interests, support, and participation. This Michigan community decided to add a little fall flair to the mix, and it may bode well.

Grand Blanc is a city on the Eastern side of the Mitten state on the inside edge of the thumb. They are known for being every interested in sports, hunting, and community. This year, their Thanksgiving Food Drive will be paired with a Turkey Bowl as they look to help out the less fortunate in their community.

Grand Blanc High School and Asperger Agency of Farm Bureau are partnering for the event on Wednesday November 27th with Check-in, warm-up and team organization starts at 5 p.m., and activities will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Grand Blanc High School’s football stadium.

They are asking for everyone to bring at least one nonperishable food item as all donations will be assisting Fish of Grand Blanc as they try fight hunger in their community. The Turkey Bowl will feature inclusive gameplay and community-focused activities, such as field goal contests and distance-throwing challenges during game breaks.
