What Is Salmonella?

Salmonella is a bacteria that causes a sickness in humans, defined as "salmonellosis." Symptoms can include stomach cramps, fevers, and even diarrhea in some.

What Are The Ways People Get Salmonella

There are a couple of ways that someone can get salmonella. A lot of it does have to do with the food you eat, however, not all of it is that way.

  • Contaminated Food
  • Contaminated Water
  • Infected Animals
  • Infected animals feces

The above are the main ways people can come into contact and contract salmonella.

The Recall Currently Affecting Michigan

The CDC, is currently reporting a recall relating to 100 cases of illness, and even 2 deaths from salmonella, due to cantaloupe.

 

The recall includes whole cantaloupes, individually diced cantaloupe, even the seasonal fruit blends.

The recall includes Ohio, Illinois, Indiana and Michigan. Walmart and Aldi stores are the ones to take a look at the most here in Michigan.

If you purchased any cantaloupe during October, the afflicted by products will say October 27th and October 31, 2023. Walmart stores will have a best by date of November 7th to November 12, 2023.
