If you've never lived in Michigan before (like me), then there are a LOT of seemingly normal things to Michiganders, that are practically foreign to people from other states.

Likewise, there's a lot that reminded me of home, and I did NOT expect it when I moved here. (There's farmland here?)

Right off the bat (SHOCKER), Detroit is not representative of the WHOLE state of Michigan. If you ask anyone who's never been here before, you can almost guarantee they'll mention Detroit, and all the stereotypes that come with it (which... not all of them are necessarily true).

For those unaccustomed, Michigan actually borders more Great Lakes (4) than it does states (3). And while it TECHNICALLY shares a border with Canada, NONE of it is via land. You HAVE to cross a bridge at some point to get there.

Michigan is the state that, when you're sick, you'll be prescribed a "Pop" named Vernor's, instead of actual medicine. And when life prescribes you a healthy dose of sunshine and Vitamin D, there are Actually a TON of sandy beach shores that resemble some of the ocean-front property on the east and west coasts!

It's seriously a strange place to be when you're used to one place in the country, but really, Michigan has something for EVERYONE, and some things that will make your jaw drop when you see them. Like, what the hell is a Party Store? Also... what the hell is a Red Wing?

So what do you think is the weirdest thing to someone who isn't from Michigan? I'm sure it's in the list below somewhere.
