Despite Low Season Attendance, The Detroit Tigers Still Set Two Comerica Attendance Records
The numbers are in, and the Detroit Tigers had one of the lowest attendance trends of 2024, which is wild considering the Tigers just capped off a meteoric climb into the postseason, and took the eventual ALDS-winning Cleveland Guardians to a Game 5 in the series.
But the season wasn't a total bust. In fact, despite the low season attendance, Tigers fans still managed to set two attendance records (the good kind) toward the end of the season.

The attendance numbers of MLB teams in the 2024 regular season have been released, and despite a few teams showing strong support, the majority continue a bad trend for baseball, in that attendance overall is down.
From 2019 to 2022, the MLB saw a 5.7 percent drop in attendance, and it's very likely that trend continues into 2024 as prices for most tickets, and ballpark amenities is simply too expensive.

But it doesn't stop many faithful fans from attending, and it should come as no surprise, the favorites to win the World Series this year, the L.A. Dodgers, had the best average attendance through the year with the addition of Shohei Ohtani on their roster. That, unfortunately was still down 4.5% from last season.
As for the Tigers, well, it wasn't great. They had the fifth-worst average attendance this year. Comerica Park has a capacity of 41,083, but only managed to put about 16,000 buts in seats through the regular season. This is down 2.7% from 2023.
Record-Setting Attendance at Comerica
Despite the low turnout during the season, though, the Tigers got hot when it mattered, and when they made the playoffs, exceeded the seating capacity of Comerica Park... twice.
During Game three of the ALDS series against the Guardians, Comerica packed 44,885 fans into the park with many in standing-room-only situations. This was a new Tigers postseason home record attendance.
Then, the next day at Game 4, 44,923 people. Previously, the postseason record was 43,973 in 2013's Game 3 loss to the Orioles. However, the all-time record that INCLUDES the regular season, was set on July 26, 2008, when the Tigers lost at home 6-7 to the Chicago White sox in front of 45,280 people.
