Last month in early September 2024 we revealed the winners of a contest the state of Michigan was holding. The state gave kids the opportunity to have their artistic stylings be worn by hundreds of thousands of people.

The contest was a create your own "I Voted" sticker contest, which was entered in by hundreds of kids. The winners ranged from elementary, middle, high school and general entry winners. Altogether there were nine different entries, but one in particular that came from Jane Hynous in Grosse Pointe recently gained national exposure when their design was one of the first topics discussed on the HBO Max series Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.

In his newest episode, which can be viewed below on YouTube, the main focus is election subversion and the first thing he opens up with is the story of how his epic sticker was selected and the meaning behind it.
As John points out in the video:
Getting a sticker for voting is certainly welcome and as we mentioned before, if you live in Michigan, you might get a really good one this year
The news clip then shows Jane's design and Jane discusses the idea behind it:
I want to be a symbol of powerfulness. I want people to be proud of it when they’re voting when they actually get the sticker it’s OK. I voted and you know it’s pretty encouraging.
John then says the thing we're all thinking right now.
The founding fathers should be frankly be ashamed that they didn’t ensure voting came with complementary werewolf swag. I cannot believe it took over 250 years for a young Michigan genius to solve that obvious flaw in our democracy.
