Before today, I didn't know what a "Cannabis Entertainment Complex" would look like, aside from maybe an entire bay of Nintendo 64s and a snack bar full of Mountain Dew and Cheetos. Turns out, I was WAAAAY off, because an actual Cannabis Entertainment Complex will be opening within the next year in Muskegon.

Fields Cannary has plans of opening sometime in 2025, and has been in development for at least a year. Now, progress is being made, and soon, you'll be able to buy, and consume in the same space.

"This will be the restaurant, which is the main focal point of our business."

Co-owner of Fields Cannary, Edgar Ramon, recently gave Fox 17 a tour of the former Sons of Norway hall in Muskegon, detailing where all of the "action" would be happening in their entertainment complex. The idea being, this is a facility where you'll be able to buy cannabis, and consume it on site with a meal.

As Ramon describes it, most dispensaries are just like a shop where you walk in, buy what you need, and then you're right out the door. Their focus feels more like a brewery concept, where you can hang out and enjoy the product with other people who enjoy it. But instead of pints, it's pre-rolls.

The plan, however, isn't just for the main building. Initial concept art shows a grow house behind the main building, a garden area on one end for outdoor consumption, an area next to the parking lot for other vendors during events, and an open area outdoors that could potentially be used for concerts, or other events.

In order to make this venue happen, Cannary Fields had to apply for multiple permits, and according to Ramon, "nowhere in the world - and I've been to Amsterdam and all over the world - have we seen where all these licenses fall under the same roof, so it's exciting times."

It could be the first of its kind, literally in the world, and it's coming soon to Muskegon. Plans are to open on... of course... 4/20 of 2025.

The only drawback in this I see is... there ARE no plans for a wall of video game consoles, so... that might be something to consider for the next venue like this.

Michigan's Border Is A Cannabis Hotspot For Out-of-State Travelers

Michigan was the first state in the Midwest to legalize marijuana and borders three states - Ohio, Indiana, and Wisconsin - where weed is either illegal or limited, resulting in many people crossing over to get their product from Pure Michigan. Here are the number of stores in these border towns. Population data is from the U.S. Census Bureau.
